Tips for a Pet First-Aid Kit

Are you taking your dog or cat on vacation? To make your travel preparations easier, we've put together a few suggestions for your pet's first-aid kit.

What should be included in a basic pet first-aid kit?

Your first-aid kit should definitely include waterproof bandaging supplies such as wound dressings, gauze bandages, bandage scissors, and disposable gloves. In addition to a thermometer, your pet first-aid kit should also include a pair of tweezers. If your dog or cat needs to take medication on a regular basis, please make sure you have enough on hand for the duration of your vacation.

What to do if….                                                           

Diarrhea, gastrointestinal disorders, bloating:
Natural mud for pets and domestic animals

Injuries:
Arnica D4
Calendula ointment or Manuka Lind Spray for wounds, sunburn, and hot spots 
Paw protectors
Bach Flower Rescue Remedy globules—first aid measure

Parasites:
Tick remover
Citronella coat care spray or Acarid Spray
Ledum D3 (insect bites)
Apis D3 (anti-inflammatory)

Motion sickness:
Nux vomica D30            if the dog is restless, stands up all the time, or whines
Cocculus C30                if the dog is drooling or vomiting (1 dose before the trip and 1 dose during the trip)

Symptoms of poisoning from spoiled meat, fish, or sausage:
Arsenicum album D6 and Okoubaka D2
Natural peat for pets and domestic animals

Heatstroke/sunstroke:
IMMEDIATELY place the dog in a cool, shady spot,
start with cool compresses on the hind legs and then slowly work your way forward,
the water must not be ice-cold,
offer the dog lukewarm water to drink, but please do not force-feed it. The dog must drink on its own!
Aconitum D6 (every 10 minutes until improvement is seen)

Snake bite (common viper):
Ledum C30  max. 3 x 5 globules spread throughout the day
Lachesis C30 1 x 5 globules per day
Under no circumstances should you let the dog walk on its own anymore. If the bite was from a venomous snake, this will prevent the venom from spreading too quickly throughout the body. Please take the dog to the nearest veterinarian as soon as possible!

Mucokehl Eye Drops D5
Otysan Manuka Lind Drops

The dosage for the globules is 5 per administration.
