Moro’s Carrot Soup is a time-tested home remedy with great effectiveness. The soup was originally developed in the early 20th century by the Viennese pediatrician Ernst Moro to treat diarrhea in children. Today, it is also valued in veterinary medicine, especially for dogs with sensitive digestion. With just a few ingredients—carrots, water, and a pinch of salt—you can make a carrot soup that soothes the intestines and gently relieves the stomach.

Moro’s Carrot Soup According to the Original Recipe

The key to Moro’s carrot soup for dogs lies in its special preparation. Cooking the carrots for several hours creates special sugar molecules (known as oligosaccharides) that attach to the intestinal wall, thereby making it more difficult for bacteria to adhere. In this way, the soup can support the intestines during episodes of diarrhea or gastritis, or following intestinal cleansing, and contribute to natural regeneration.

Feeding Recommendation

The rule of thumb is: Depending on your dog’s size and weight, the soup can be served either on its own or as a supplement to their regular food. Small dogs should receive about ½ to 1 cup; larger dogs, accordingly more. Whether served warm or cold is up to your four-legged friend—many dogs prefer it slightly warmed. The soup can also be supplemented with chicken wet food once the stomach and intestinal tract have settled down a bit.
